Elements of Career Planning Programs

Student counselling programme

Stress and depression have been common problems among high school students. There are various reasons for these problems. No doubt they are in part caused by increased arguments with parents because the students have not fulfilled the expectations of their parents, and also a result of relationship conflicts between siblings, friends, classmates etc. Newspapers sometimes report that students commit suicide because they couldn’t cope with stress and there has been an example. As a result BSSRO has planned to start the Student counselling programme in the Higher Secondary School at India. It is hopes that this will help develop the coping mechanism among the students to face and deal with the various psychological problems they encounter.

The following topics are being covered under this programme.

  • Stress Management
  • Self Esteem
  • Problem solving
  • Coping with anxiety
  • Coping with depression

Some of the specific topics covered address the physical and psychological changes occurring during adolescence and the aim is to help in learning how to adjust to the changes and how to cope with the changes in emotions. Our female Social Worker is targeting the adolescent girls in the schools on specific health issues and it has been a great help to them to have someone to talk to about these matters
